Pre-employment Medicals

When a role comes with unique risks and requirements, our team will help you establish the
suitability of a candidate during the recruitment process.

About pre-employment medical assessments

We understand that many roles come with unique requirements. At the
recruitment stage, it is essential that employers feel confident in an applicant's
fitness to perform the role, whether it be flying an aircraft, manufacturing food
products, driving fork hoists, heavy manual handling, or working in a
high-responsibility corporate role.

Pre-employment medicals look into the candidate's current and historical health
circumstances, and further assess any areas that may impact their appropriateness
or fitness for the role. If we deem an area of question for fitness, we will provide
our recommendations to the employer.

This knowledge is beneficial to employers when considering performance,
attendance and medical restrictions.

What can my pre-employment
medical assessment involve?

Depending on the role requirements and the requests of the business,
we can tailor this to include all or some of the following:

  • Health screening questionnaire (disclosing previous and/or current health conditions)

  • Height, weight, body mass index

  • Musculoskeletal examination

  • Vision assessment (near, intermediate, distance and colour)

  • Audiometry (hearing assessment)

  • Cardiovascular assessment (BSL, heart health)

  • Skin assessment

  • Alcohol and drug testing

  • Spirometry (lung function assessment)

A pre-employment medical is also a good way to establish a candidate's health
baseline for ongoing health surveillance once they have been employed in a role.
